Potty Time

After the loooooong proccess of getting Allison potty trained, I have told people I am going to just wait until Lauren figures it out on her own. Especially with the impending birth of another baby, I have no desire or intention of toilet training Lauren right now. (Although I will admit it would be nice for her to be out of diapers before the next kid comes.)

Having said that... Over the past little while Lauren seems to have a growing interest in the toilet. She likes to sit on it, she sits her dolls on it, and she likes reading the potty book we have. When she does sit on it, she usually sits down, stands up, sits down, stands up, etc. Nothing ever comes out, but she thinks it is fun. One night at bedtime she even used the excuse "I need to use the toilet" to try to get out of going to bed (no it didn't work).

Tonight after her bath Lauren said she wanted to use the toilet so I kept her diaper off. I didn't pay much attention after that, just put a diaper on after she seemed done. Well, later on when I was getting Allison out of the tub, I noticed that lo and behold, there was actually something in the potty! Lauren went in the potty for the first time and I completely missed it. Once I made the discovery we of course made a big deal about it, but the actual event went completely unnoticed (sorry Lauren). It was probably just a combination of good timing and luck but we will see what happens next. Maybe I will get lucky and she will just "figure it out on her own"... wouldn't that be nice?

Yay Lauren!!!! That's so funny that it happened in such a nonchalant way! That would be awesome if she made the whole process easy on you... Maybe not making a big deal out of it is the way to do it!
