New smile

Looks like the tooth fairy will be visiting our house tonight!

School days

Well, Allison made it on the bus on Day 1. Just for the record, we offered to drive her for her first day and she opted for the bus. She climbed right on and didn't seem to have a second thought. That's our brave little girl! And ever since, she's had a great time at school.

Here Lauren and Megan wait at the fence for the bus to drop Allison off from school. They love to go out and wait for their sister to come home. We have discovered that 7:30-3:30 is a long time! I think Lauren is missing her playmate at home...and she is anxious for preschool to start (after labor day). Notice she's wearing her backpack...for some reason she feels the need to wear it when we are near the school bus.

Allison came home her first day full of stories and info to share. I thought it was kind of funny, I looked in her lunch box when she got home and noticed all of her sandwich was gone, all of her carrots were gone, and only 1/2 out of 2 cookies was gone. She said she ran out of time. Matt says he needs to teach her that you eat the cookies first, then the sandwich, then if you have time/room you eat the carrots. Here she is washing her lunch box things...I told her we could just put them in the dishwasher but she wanted to wash them herself. That's our kid...

Yesterday she came home anxious to tell us all about what happened on her second day...and it WAS quite a day... Nothing like a lockdown on your second day of school. Click HERE for a news article and HERE for a video about what happened. We are just glad the school took the necessary precautions and everyone stayed safe.

All in all, so far so good. She seems to be thoroughly enjoying herself and thoroughly tired out by the end of the day!

'Twas the night before

' Twas the night before school started
and all through our home
Not a child was in sight
where they usually roam

A backpack was hung
by the front door with care
In hopes that the school bus
soon would be there

Allison was nestled
all snug in her bed
While visions of school supplies
danced in her head

She went to bed early
to get lots of rest
And hoped that tomorrow
would be just the BEST

The pencils were sharpened
and each crayon came
Tediously labeled
with Allison's name

Scissors and glue sticks,
erasers and more
Kindergarten surely
would not be a bore

A whole lot excited,
a little bit scared
Not sure what to expect,
but hopefully prepared

A big day tomorrow,
we'll see what will come
But who's more excited--
Allison or Mum?

Visit with Lisa & Tyler

It's not very often that we get visitors "all the way out here" in Indiana...so we were sure grateful to have our friends visit us last week! Thanks Lisa & Tyler for coming to see us, it was great to have you here! Lisa was my roommate in college (among other things) and Tyler and Matt worked together on stage crew at BYU-I. It wasn't until after Lisa left for grad school in Cincinnati and came BACK to Idaho that she and Tyler hooked up. And actually, the last time the girls and I saw her was at their wedding when we looked like this...

As you can see, that was a while ago. Here are a few pictures from their visit...

Sorry, Tyler. It's the only picture I have of you...but you did give permission, remember? :) Thanks for the visit guys, it was fun to see you!

Smiling again

It seems Megan has finally overcome her fear of bath time. I snapped a few photos the other night and thought I would share. She LOVES the tub now and tries to climb in as I am filling it up. Lauren and Megan are great friends (most of the time) and love to play in the bath together.

And yes, that's cotton in her ears (to keep water from getting in her tubes). Here's a quick update from our last visit to Indy since I never got around to posting when we went. She is doing great, and we are planning her next surgery for this fall (late september/early october) to repair her palate. They will also be replacing one of her tubes at that time. Aaaand that's about it.
