School days

Well, Allison made it on the bus on Day 1. Just for the record, we offered to drive her for her first day and she opted for the bus. She climbed right on and didn't seem to have a second thought. That's our brave little girl! And ever since, she's had a great time at school.

Here Lauren and Megan wait at the fence for the bus to drop Allison off from school. They love to go out and wait for their sister to come home. We have discovered that 7:30-3:30 is a long time! I think Lauren is missing her playmate at home...and she is anxious for preschool to start (after labor day). Notice she's wearing her backpack...for some reason she feels the need to wear it when we are near the school bus.

Allison came home her first day full of stories and info to share. I thought it was kind of funny, I looked in her lunch box when she got home and noticed all of her sandwich was gone, all of her carrots were gone, and only 1/2 out of 2 cookies was gone. She said she ran out of time. Matt says he needs to teach her that you eat the cookies first, then the sandwich, then if you have time/room you eat the carrots. Here she is washing her lunch box things...I told her we could just put them in the dishwasher but she wanted to wash them herself. That's our kid...

Yesterday she came home anxious to tell us all about what happened on her second day...and it WAS quite a day... Nothing like a lockdown on your second day of school. Click HERE for a news article and HERE for a video about what happened. We are just glad the school took the necessary precautions and everyone stayed safe.

All in all, so far so good. She seems to be thoroughly enjoying herself and thoroughly tired out by the end of the day!

Thanks for the report! Wow, a lockdown is quite the experience for someone's 2nd day of school! That cracks me up that she actually ate the cookies last! And washed her own lunch box stuff! I think it's cool she opted for the school bus, too. Such confidence! I'm impressed!

The pic of her sisters waiting for her to arrive is so sweet. I've thought about you guys this week - must be a little hard for the younger girls. It's exciting, though - so many changes coming so fast!
