Shaping up

Just like some of you, Megan has made some new year's resolutions to help her get in shape. It seems like no matter what she does, she keeps gaining weight. Here is her plan of action:

First of all, she has put herself on a strict diet of only milk and rice cakes. She knows her formula contains all the essential vitamins and nutrients she needs...so why waste time with baby food? Whenever I try to feed her baby food she acts completely uninterested and tries not to swallow. When she finally does have to swallow, most of what's in her mouth comes out and down her chin. The only thing I can get her to eat are "rice rusks" (little surfboard shaped baby rice cakes). But I think thats just because she likes sticking stuff in her mouth and by default she happens to eat some of it in the process.

Next, Megan spends most of her waking hours exercising. Mostly she does sit-ups and push-ups. She is getting pretty good at sitting up (which is different from spitting up--she's already a pro at that). We have to stay close by because she topples over at any given moment, but she can sit for a pretty long time if she wants to.

Push-ups are her newest talent. Every day she gets closer and closer to crawling but is not quite there yet. She can basically go any direction but forward. Megan has learned to get up not on her hands and knees, but on her hands and toes. When she really wants something that is out of reach, she will get up like this and push forward enough to move about an inch. Kinda like an inchworm I guess. Hopefully we will be able to post a crawling video soon... or maybe I shouldn't be hopeful about that. Once she gets really mobile, life will definitely be more interesting around here!
