Traverse City

We decided to take a little last minute (sort of) trip up to Michigan over Fall Break. Actually, we were originally thinking about camping but ended up doing this instead :) Which turned out to be a good decision, since it was a bit cold and rainy that weekend. We found a great deal on a cottage rental on a lake in Traverse City (Northern Michigan).

It had been a busy start to the school year, so it was nice to be able to sit back and relax for a few days and spend some quality time with Dad.

They went fishing on the dock...never caught anything, but it was still fun to try.

Matt made some nice fires for us in the back yard. Hot dogs for dinner....Yum! You'll never guess what we ate for dessert!

We spent one afternoon at a local farm. They had bushels and bushels of apples out front and they smelled so good! But the reason we went was to try out their corn maze. The kids seemed to enjoy themselves. Even if we did cheat...just a little bit :)

After the corn maze we stopped for a treat at Moomers. Moomers is an ice cream place that was named "America's best scoops" by Good Morning America. We thought we would try it out since were in town. I figured it would be a little crowded and overpriced, but it turned out to be neither. Actually, what impressed us most was, if you look out the window there past Lauren, and over the railing, you can't see it in the picture but there is a field of cows. And a barn and creamery. The cows are right there on the same property. So it doesn't have to travel too far before it turns into ice cream! And boy was it good. MMmmm. If you happen to be in Traverse City for some reason, we highly recommend it!

All in all, it was a nice relaxing little trip. Click HERE if you want to see more pictures of our trip.

I looked at your pics before I saw the post! That cottage was a score! I'm glad you guys got some quality time with Matt. :)

That is my kind of vacation, and that cottage is too cute. Making mental note of ice cream place.
