Well, we did it...we took Lauren's "nuk" away. This happened a couple of weeks ago. We threw a going-away party with cupcakes, balloon and a present in exchange for her throwing away her "yucky" nuk. She seemed to take it extremely well and had no problem throwing the thing away. But there was also cake and a present involoved at the time. When bedtime came around she wasn't so convinced of the idea any more. After a couple long nights, she started doing better, but I think we are still feeling the effects of it. She doesn't ask about it any more, but bedtime as of late usually goes something like this: Step 1: Put kids to bed, Step 2: Lauren makes lots of noise, Step 3: Allison gets annoyed and ends up out of bed complaining that she can't sleep, Step 4: We send Allison back to bed. Repeat steps 2-4 several times, and 1-2 hours later, Step 5: Kids finally fall asleep (well, usually there is some scolding that happens before step 5). The worst part is, they get to sleep late, wake up late, then not be tired at bedtime and we start all over again. Since messed up sleeping = grumpy kids, let's just say it has been fun at our house the last couple of weeks. Not that they get along that well anyway... The last couple of nights have been better so we are hoping this continues and isn't just a fluke (although, as I type this I can hear them yelling back and forth so maybe I shouldn't be getting my hopes up).Tuesday, January 29, 2008

Surprise! I found your blog today! I ran into Evisa on facebook, where I found out about HER blog, where I found out about YOUR blog! :) That's a bummer that you've had such a rough several weeks--I honestly don't know how I'd deal with something like that. I've found that I am one of the grumpiest people on earth when I'm tired. And as much as I complain about school, my friends and family with kids always have me beat. :) Well hang in there--things are bound to improve soon! Hope everything else is going ok...
I hope that was ok that I posted your link to my blog :) I was just excited you created one, and I know my parents are always asking how you are doing so I thought by putting it there they can check it out too. And oh man, that doesn't sound like fun what you are going through with the girls, being pregnant and all, but it sounds like it will get better soon...
You guys are very brave!!! Hope things get better soon.
I had four children before I learned how to be patient with crying children in the night (lucky Julie). We traded Julie's 'suckie' for a Rainbow Brite doll on her FOURTH birthday, but it was months before she didn't miss it anymore. Julie & Matt, you're doing a great job with your little girls :)
Way to cave! I'm glad you joined the mindless masses (myself included). I'll be checking every day to see if you posted everything! :?)
Julie! I'm glad you finally decided to give into temptation and blog. It's kind of addicting, I'll admit! Congrats on the Nuk-less-ness, it'll get better soon (or so they tell me). We have a way to go yet before that blessed time in life. ;) Good to hear from you! --Katie
PS- Congrats on #3, that's exciting! People keep asking us when #2 will come, but nothing yet. I'll let you know.
